Paris Node — Apollo's Clinic Light

Chapter Six

Paris Node — Apollo’s Clinic Light

Paris mercy node had white tile and cruel clean light.

The Apollo wing sat apart from the vine-heavy halls: cooler air, nectar that tasted like cold sunlight and metal, attendants with gold under the skin who moved like people who had never once been late for a rota. A sign in six languages and one radiant script read CLARITY RITES / NON-FRENZY / SELECTIVE WELCOME.

Henry stopped under the sign longer than he meant to.

Kat did not push. She only said, “Cabinet noise has been low since the nymphs. Low isn’t none.”

Helen, already reading the intake menu: “They bleach static without opening drawers. That’s the claim. I want the protocol copy for London either way.”

Jean and Penny peeled off toward the viewing gallery with the self-awareness of people who knew their kink could be a courtesy or a pressure. “We’ll stay upstairs,” Penny said. “Sound off if the seal wants privacy. Sound on if you want witnesses who already love you.”

Henry chose a private bay with a glass wall that could frost on command. He left it clear for Kat and frosted for the corridor. The attendant who entered was not the god full-form — a lesser radiant, gold in the capillaries, eyes like noon, mouth kind without being soft.

“You carry cabinet noise,” the attendant said, not as accusation. “We can bleach the static without opening the drawers. Mouth or cunt or hand. Your seal. Spend collected as selective, non-public, travel-class.”

“Kat’s hand,” Henry said. “Your mouth on the lock-point only. Nectar measured. No audience below. Gallery upstairs may watch if they keep silent.”

“Green.”

Kat washed her hands like a surgeon and then like a lover. Henry sat on the white couch with his trousers open, cock already filling from the light and the permission. The attendant dripped nectar onto his tongue in counted drops — three, three, three — and the world went edges-sharp without going loud. Gold-warm lips pressed to Henry’s collarbone, to the exact skin where the lock lived, and sucked lightly in time with Kat’s fist.

Kat stroked him the way she had in the tunnel: patient, exact, thumb slick, no performance. Henry’s head tipped back. The cabinet rattled once, far off, like a door in a house he no longer lived in. He did not walk toward it. He came with his face in Kat’s neck, spend pulsing over her fist, the attendant catching what fell in a sun-flask labelled in clean hand:

SELECTIVE / NON-PUBLIC / TRAVEL

Donor: H.

Witness: K.

Clarity index: stable.

They gave him a double nectar ration as change. His eyes, when he opened them, were steady in a way that made Kat’s shoulders drop half an inch.

Helen took the bay next door as clinician-patient.

No gallery clear glass for her — frosted hard. A consenting nurse-acolyte with Apollo-gold at the wrists fucked her against the tile with a slick hand and a plain cock-sheath on a harness, rhythm clinical, depth requested and adjusted. Helen came twice, once for the hyperdrive marker test, once because her body had earned it, and then washed, dressed, and took copies of every protocol sheet on the wall including the ones in radiant script she would need translated.

Upstairs, Jean sat on Penny’s fingers with her forehead to the gallery glass and came silent out of respect, watching only the frosted panel where Henry had been, loving the shape of a seal that was not hers to open. Penny kissed the inside of Jean’s knee and logged nothing for once; some green didn’t need ink.

On the way out, an Artemis-huntress in transit leathers passed them in the corridor — bow-case like a instrument bag, boots soft, eyes sharper than the clinic light. She nodded at Kat the way professionals nod.

“Boys still analog?”

“Until majority,” Kat said.

“Good. Fence is hard this season. Someone tried a school gate in Lyon. Furies left teeth. Teeth and a memo.” A thin smile. “Athena’s auditing university cohesion policies up your way. She hates coercion dressed as community. You didn’t hear it from me.”

She was gone before the thanks landed.

They slept the cold-berth block in Paris under a stalled storm that never broke. In the night Henry woke once, checked the flask label with his thumb, and found Kat already awake, already watching the door.

“Green,” he said.

“Green,” she said.

Far north, in a North East London terrace, a black dog with stars in its mouth would soon leave a key on a sill. Absolute time and school time ticked toward each other on the same map.
