Dijon Waystation — The Centaur Farrier

Chapter Five

Dijon Waystation — The Centaur Farrier

Dijon’s waystation was a converted rail shed under shade-sails the colour of dried blood. The air shimmered. Cooling units screamed and then cut out in rolling brownouts. Centaurs ran the farrier desk and the power desks — horse-bodied, human-torsoed, sweat-dark, forearms mapped with burn scars. When they worked the portable forges their cocks were sleeved in heat-resistant polymer, clinical as tool guards. When they didn’t, some left the sleeves off and the smell of musk and hot metal braided into one thing.

A mare-centaur with a cropped mane and a mercy-service band across her chest flagged their car before the wheels had fully stopped. Her flanks were dusted with ash. One ear had a notch.

“Node’s overheating,” she said without hello. “Living condenser needed. Two locked humans on the ventral contact plates. Orgasm cycle x3. Pays your water chits and a cold-berth block to Paris. Named preferred. Limits spoken before harness.”

Jean was already on the platform, clipboard under her arm. “We can cover it. Bonded pair. Spectacle and collection. Selective pair on watch, not on plates. Clinician observing. No knot, no breed-play, no scent-mark on the selective seal. No audience beyond what’s required for the gauge.”

The mare’s eyes flicked to Henry and Kat, then to the child-tag crate as it was offloaded to the shade. “Fury lintel on your crate. Good. Plates are behind the lean-to. Follow.”

The ventral contact plates were warm bronze set under a canvas lean-to that smelled of oil and old rain. Cables ran from the plates into the station’s Hephaestian capacitor bank — a stacked heart of living metal that ticked too fast, fevered. Gauge needles trembled in the red.

Penny stripped without being asked and lay back on the left plate. The bronze kissed her shoulder blades, her arse, the backs of her thighs; she hissed at the heat and then breathed through it. Jean straddled her face facing the mare, trousers off, knees planted either side of Penny’s head.

“Harness,” Jean said.

The mare-centaur backed in with the precision of someone who had done this in worse heat. The heat-sink harness — a lattice of bronze and polymer — settled across Penny’s belly and breasts, contact pads kissing skin. Every tremor would drink. Every clench would pull heat out of the node and into the capacitor’s cooler coils.

“Tag,” Penny said, voice already thinned. She clipped a temporary consent tag to the mare’s service band. “Base only if we touch you. No entry into us. Spend on plate or in cylinder. Revocable.”

“Green,” the mare said, and her cock thickened in its sleeve as if the word itself was friction.

Jean lowered herself onto Penny’s mouth. “Tongue out. Good girl. You don’t come until cycle one is on the gauge.”

Penny licked. The sound was wet and shameless. Jean’s hips made a small circle, then another, fucking Penny’s mouth with her cunt in slow controlled drags. The harness needles ticked. Penny’s hands gripped Jean’s thighs. Milk had started at Penny’s nipples from heat and pressure; it ran sideways into the harness chPennyls and the gauge dropped a notch as if pleased.

“Cycle one,” Jean said, and reached back to rub Penny’s clit with two merciless fingers. “Now.”

Penny came with a muffled cry into Jean’s cunt. The harness flared dull orange. The capacitor bank’s tick slowed by a fraction. The mare made a sound in her chest like a hoof-strike on stone.

“Cycle two,” Jean ordered, already grinding down harder. “Fingers in me. Don’t you dare be polite.”

Penny pushed two fingers into Jean, then three, and sucked her clit while she curled them. Jean came with her head thrown back, throat bare to the shade-sail light, a full-body shudder that painted Penny’s chin and the upper edge of the harness. Gauge dropped again. Someone at the farrier desk whooped once and was told to shut up.

Henry watched from the lean-to post with Kat’s back against his chest. His cock was hard; he did not touch it. Kat’s breathing had gone careful. Helen’s pen moved: Condenser efficiency high when bonded pair sequenced. Spectacle pair continue as mobile infrastructure without cannibalising selective seal.

The mare shifted, polymer sleeve flexing. “Need the third on ventral max. I can add contact — my spend on her tits and the plate. Your tag allows base.”

Penny, wrecked, pupils blown, nodded against Jean’s thigh. “Base. Hands and mouth. No knot language. Don’t mark the watchers.”

The mare unsheathed.

Her cock was thick, dark, already dripping; the smell hit like a second heat dome. Penny stroked her with both hands, then took the head in her mouth while Jean shuffled forward and sat on Penny’s face again, giving Penny something to muffle against. The mare’s human hands stayed on her own barrel, not pinning. When she started to thrust, it was shallow, polite by centaur standard, fucking Penny’s fist and the wet ring of her lips.

“Cycle three,” Jean said, fingers back on Penny’s clit, cruel and steady. “Come when she does. That’s the circuit.”

The mare’s flanks shuddered. She pulled free of Penny’s mouth with a wet pop and spent in thick white ropes across Penny’s breasts, the harness, the bronze plate. Penny came at the same second, hips jerking, cry lost in Jean’s cunt. The harness went white-hot for a blink and then cooled hard. Gauge needles slammed into green. The capacitor bank settled into a deep satisfied thrum that shook dust out of the shade-sails.

Water chits issued. Cold-berth keys for the Paris block landed in Helen’s palm.

The mare wiped Penny’s chest with a clean rag like a farrier wiping a tool, then her own cock, then resleeved. She unclipped the tag and returned it. “Valid. If you sleep in the cold-berth, don’t fuck the thermostat. It’s sacred.” A beat. “Selective pair — you’re doing it right. World’s full of people who think lock means open season. It doesn’t.”

She trotted back toward the forge without waiting for thanks.

A Fury landed on the shade-sail above them — bronze wings folding with a sound like drawn blades, lion-hips settling, bare human breasts dusted with road film, face beautiful and without pity. She sniffed toward the child-tag crate, found no child, found no intent, tasted the air above Henry and Kat’s seal, and launched again without speaking. The station master crossed himself with a wheat-stamp and a vine-stamp both and pretended his hands weren’t shaking.

Penny needed help standing. Jean gave it, then water, then a kiss that was not for show. Henry passed Kat the cold-berth key without comment; their fingers lingered one second longer than logistics required.

Helen wrote a final line before they reboarded:

Centaur condenser protocol effective. Explicit limits held under heat stress. Fury inspection: pass. Paris block secured.

The train took them north again. In the cold-berth the air was almost kind. Penny slept with her head on Jean’s stomach. Helen dozed sitting up. Henry lay on his back with Kat’s leg over his and the cabinet quiet, the bronze token and the ash-line and the wheat-stamp all riding in the kit like a strange trinity of permission.

Outside, the heat dome cracked and resealed. The map narrowed toward Paris.
